Le dernier rêve de Toulouse-Lautrec
Monday September 9, 1901, sometime during the day – Chateau de Malorme, France. As Toulouse-Lautrec took his last drink, and uttered his final words, while still sketching until the end, with his mother at his side, he slowly closed his eye and saw himself entering his favorite place, the brothel at 8 rue d’amboise in Paris.
It all seemed very familiar yet at the same time, his surroundings and everyone there looked different. It’s as if he had gone forward in time 100 years, but somehow they already knew him. Still he felt very comfortable, as he felt he was very much accepted.
He smiled as he took his final breath. He knew he was home.
