Hélène de Troie se pose des questions
1194 BC – Sparta, Ancient Greece. Sorry I don’t recall the exact date but I know it was around midday sometime. Helen was as beautiful as claimed. Very difficult not to stare. Naturally I asked if she minded if I paint her while we talked. She kindly obliged. “So what’s up” I asked?
Helen proceed to recount the messages she had received from a “Paris” from Troy. It seems he was the prince and was very interested in her. As a married woman she did not feel it appropriate for her to respond, but she loved the picture he texted her. My options are 1. Interfere with Mythology, 2. Let things progress as expected. I chose a third option, and asked her what she felt she wanted to do. Poor thing was confused. She was so young and so torn.
As she went back and forth recounting the pluses and minuses of her life, she could not decide. It was an arranged marriage to begin with. So was this situation going to be decided for her, irrespective of how she felt? I can’t say but destiny seemed clear because I could literally see the cracks in the world around her and how it was going to affect her, along with so many others. Did it really matter what advice might be given?
