Visceral !

Recently, the curator of the Dunedin Fine Art Center Danny Olda, paid a visit to my studio.

His comment when he saw a 6 x 12 foot section of the top portion of Michelangelo’s Last Judgement on my wall was just one word:
Visceral !
I could not show him the full 42 feet as I did not have the room in my studio.  In fact I had not seen it all myself as I could only work on about 11 foot sections at a time.
This was the first of 8 panels of my re-interpretation of Michelangelo’s roughly 42 x 45 foot masterpiece which he started almost 500 years ago in 1535.  I decided to give myself a 10 year head start just in case.

Danny was kind enough to allow me to roll it out on the floor at DFAC so I could at least see it though we could only get about 28 feet of it at one time.
Not sure where this will lead but I wanted to at least finish 1 panel.
